Surviving 15 Km & K-Swiss Ad

I think i almost passed out this morning trying to finish my 1st 15Km at the Globe's Run For Home Race this morning. It was soooooooooo hot & humid. I'm so glad it was a well organized race with LOTS of water stations and cold water sponges. It was a pretty sosyal race LOL!! The route was different that's one motivating factor and my first time to run along Ayala Ave, going towards Greenbelt Malls, all the way to Fort, Mckinley.. Overall I had fun except for the heat.

I didn't have the camera with me, so no pictures to share, sayang!

Anyway, peeps out there who follow IronMan Races should know Terenzo Bozzone!

Here's a link from my earlier post about him. He's the Champion at the 1st Cobra IronMan 70.3 here in the Philippines last year. This month, he competed at IronMan New Zealand and finishing 2nd with an awesome time 8:30:00. My goodness, the PRO's.. they fly!! He was part of the new K-SWISS ad, shot in California which i think was so cool. In the ad, you'll see him biking & running.

I'm so happy that I'm so into sports now. I really feel healthier and I encourage all women and mothers to go into sports!

Happy weekend!

Iron Kids Today!

Today was special because my Dear Son joined the 1st Alaska Iron Kids, 6-8 age category 1km run, held at the Manila Polo Club. DH and I just want to expose him to love the sport and have fun and we're so glad he did, in spite of his persistent cough these past few days.

I'm so sure the parents are more anxious than the participants! I remember the organizer held out the microphone earlier and his exact words are "Did you see all the ambulances around the area, they're not for the children but for all the nervous parents!" Another time he said "Parents if you are around the field we're not going to start!" I'm guilty as charge.

Here are some pictures for today's event.

February Race + Lululemon

I miss blogging. Sorry I've been busy.

This month I'm joining 2 running events.

The Condura 2010 Run For The Dolphins. This event marked my 1st anniversary for my injury. To those who know me, last year's condura run was the worst 'fall' I had encountered for this sport. It was just like yesterday, oh well. I've moved on.

My Bib & DH's Bib. He's doing the 21km Half Marathon.

The loot that comes with our Race Kit.

And the Century Superbods Run with Coach Rio.

Singlet and the loot from my race kit

Both are well marketed race events and I'm so sure that thousands of runners will be there. I remember 2 years ago when I started joining running events, I'm paying about P200-300 per race. Now they are charging P500-750 per race, depending on the distance. Everyone is joining the bandwagon, which is good for cardio exercise. More sponsors are throwing in money because of good exposure. Running is definitely the new black.

To yoga fanatics, I'm so sure you know LULULEMON. They have the complete line of apparel for yoga, and running. I think it is one of the best inventions for work-out apparel. I buy my collection on-line and have it shipped to my place. Locally they are available at Aura Athletica in Rockwell Powerplant Mall.

Years ago I am not very particular with the "brand" of work-out apparel, I stick to the usual Nike, Adidas etc.  However when I started running more than 5km, I noticed that my tummy (where the garter shorts touches) and between my legs have painful chaffing! When I take my shower it stings really bad. My cousin in law CQC, whose very athletic, introduced me to buy Lululemon.

One of the features was all their clothes have flat seaming. This prevents chafing and irritation caused by bulky seams.

I checked the price on-line and wow, they are pretty expensive. So i bought just one pair of running shorts and compression tights. After I tried it myself.. I'm sold I'm addicted. I started buying all colors, different designs, some newly acquired crops are not in the picture. Admittedly I hoarded, but hey, because I'm active, they are all used and abuse by me, so it was really worth it.

I hope Lululemon Management gets to read my post, I've been raving it to my friends how I love it! I don't mind them sending me 'samples'; 'broken sizes' hehehe...

Now back to training.

Run Then Eat, Makes You Feel Good, Not Guilty!

Today I have a brunch date with my discipleship girlfriends, I learned we are having buffet at Spiral (at Sofitel Philippine Plaza)

So I force myself out of bed at 5.45am this morning, grab DH to join me and ran for 1 hour at Mall of Asia By The Bay, just to compensate the buffet that I'm going to indulge! I did actually feel good, work out first then reward yourself!

Tomorrow, I'm flying out with DH and my babies. Vacation Rocks!

Happy New Year Everyone :)

I look forward to 2010, another year of journey with my Master, my Lord, Jesus.

Will You Tri?

Speedo National Age Group Final Leg. October 18, 2009 at Ayala Alabang, Swim-Bike-Run: Conquered!

Adidas King Of The Road October 25, 2009 10KM run: Conquered!

My friends asked me why I do what I do...  running, biking and swimming. What I tell them, my story and sort of a testimony on how, by the grace of God, He can change a couch potato like me into a disciplined athlete. I'm still a progressing beginner :)

Just over a year ago, I had my annual blood test and found my cholesterol is at a threatening level! People were surprised because I am never overweight. As a matter of fact, I've always been eating properly and conscious of my weight and body. My Pediatric Doctor and dear friend Dr. JTS suggests that I start exercising and do sports instead of taking medicine and be dependent for life.. We concluded that it's in the genes of my family to have high 'bad' cholesterol, diabetes, cancer etc..

Just also last year cousins in law CC, EC and DH and friends have been joining Sunday Run Races usually at the Fort or McKinley. I was dragged to join the 3km. And since then I did not stop running. This year I vowed to be a regular swimmer and do spinning at the gym for cross training along running. I also had my cholesterol check and it was down to 190. Still on the high side but so glad its not in the "dangerous" level anymore!

Have you had your health checked lately? There are a lot of exercises that you can start working on. Health is wealth!

I'm Back Running

After more than a month long absence from running, due to funeral, work, mommy duties; I signed up for the GLOBE-RUN FOR HOME at the Fort last Sunday and run 10km with Dear Husband and friends. My time officially is 1:13:16 (nyek!) It was pretty slow. My best time is 1:06 in my previous 10km runs.

The weather is pretty nice after the storm few days ago. I also found a dead toe nail appeared before me after i took off my 'new' NEW BALANCE running shoes. Geesh.. the things we sacrifice for the love of running.

Which race I'm joining next? I'm checking out Takbo.ph.

I Tri-ed and I Conquered!

This is a long overdue post because of everything that happened this month, I'm sure most of you know about this event or have read it somewhere. So I'm just posting some pictures what me & DH did during the Animo Sprint Triathlon last June 14, 2009.

DH & I along with some other friends finished the mini-sprint.

350m Swim, 12km Bike, 3.4km Run.

My Bib

I'm somewhere there, jittery & nervous

DH swim away

Who cares about messy hair during transition?

Yikes my legs are all messed up because of the ink!

What a fun day. Will definitely TRI again on October. And this time my aim is not just to finish, but to do better.
